Dan Goldman:
I did miss the tournament in 97 when I was forced to work all weekend. In 98 when I returned to the Fools tournament (now at Santa Cruz), I had come to play for another team. The weather was shaky, and I was crossing field 2 to field 3 where 'Highway 85' was warming up for the first round. At field 2, David Cregger and Steve recognized me and said "there's a brother!!...you're with us right!?', and I said OF COURSE!!" Halfway through the game, some friends on Highway 85 noticed me... "there's dan0, what the f@$shmaltz are you doing, dan0" I said 'April Fools!!'. Winning that year was sweet indeed.
